A silly question - RonO's Ramblings

Oct. 3rd, 2006 12:21 pm A silly question

Would a song writen by, and performed by, an SF fan and writer be considered a filk song, even if they wrote and performed the song well before being identified as a fan, or writing their first story?

Current Music: At Seventeen by Janis Ian (as someone could probably guess)

In case you don't feel like clicking on the link, the answer would be "No, unless the artist identifies themselves as a member of the filk community, and even then the song itself may not be 'filk' depending on the content."

Oh, man, next you're going to be trying to figure out what the heck it is that Weird Al Yankovic plays, and whether the songs have to have their own music - or they *can't* have their own music - to be considered filk.

Wars have been fought = are being fought = over less. :-)
