While getting a new name, the Very Large Array telescope gets to keep its old.
Call it the "Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array."

No, thanks for the tip! This is great news. It's about time the guy had a major instrument named for him. Although "KGJVLA" is going to be a mouthful. And everyone who has the habit of referring to it as the VLA probably won't stop, even though it's had a major upgrade.
When I gave my Reber talk at the Rotary Club in Wheaton, I met a cousin of Jansky's. Lot of engineers in that family.
